Open Enrollment for health insurance is the period in which individuals are eligible to enroll in a health insurance plan.

 

Open Enrollment will begin November 1, 2020 to December 15, 2020.  You must enroll in a health plan by December 31,2020 in order for your coverage to take effect January 1,2021.

If you need to apply for health insurance outside of the Open Enrollment Period you will be applying during what is called the Special Enrollment Period. Individuals are eligible to apply during this period if they have one of the following Qualifying Events: 

​

  • Loss of Minimum Essential Coverage

  • Loss of Coverage Through an Employer

  • Change in Household (i.e. Marriage, Death, Birth or Adoption)

  • Change in Place of Residence (i.e. moving from one state to another)

  • Change in Citizenship, Immigration Status or Gaining U.S. Legal Status

  • Release from Incarceration

What Do I Need? Why Do I Need This?

​

Applicant & Household Information - Your basic information including name, date of birth, marital status, dependent name(s), dependent date of birth(s), address, SSN(s), and license number(ages19+).

​

Proof of Citizenship or Permanent Residency - Permanent Residents and those not born in the U.S. who became citizens will need to provide immigration document information.

​

Information on how you’ll file your taxes - If married the Marketplace will need to know if you’ll be filing jointly or separately.  You will also be asked about your dependents and whether or not you are claimed as a dependent.

​

Employer & income information for everyone in your household - The Marketplace will  require information regarding your employer, income, expenses and deductions of everyone in your household even if they are not applying for coverage i.e. wages and salaries, tips, net income, unemployment, Social Security payments, alimony, retirement or pension income, investment income, rental income, other taxable income.

​

Your best estimate of your household income - The Marketplace may ask you to provide your best estimate of the annual   income for the 2021 year that you’ll be covered.
